History

Family Matters of KC is a Kansas City-based non-profit organization that was founded in 1997. It is the brainchild of Angela Habeebullah, an attorney who always wanted her marriage to be different from her parents’, but she didn’t know how to make that happen. She loved her husband dearly, but that wasn’t enough to make it work. She needed more.

That’s when she started reading books, lots of them. From Deepak Chopra to the controversial Dr. Laura, from John Gottman to Iyanla Vanzant and beyond, she consumed as much as she could on the topics of relationships, self-love and parenting.

It took some time, but door started to open. Things started to change in ways she had never experienced before. She was able to witness in her own family the positive results of her newfound knowledge. She knew then she was on to something.

Her heart yearned to share this information with others. She knew they would benefit in the same way. In , 1999, Mrs. Habeebullah became a mediator. She began to work with feuding couples, helping them to smooth out the kinks. The sense of fulfillment indescribable. Family Matters of KC was born shortly thereafter.

Mission Statement

Our mission is simple: to build strong, healthy marriages. We know how tempting it may be to divorce and start fresh, but our hope is that couples will learn not only how to stay together, but to do so happily.

We offer a variety of trainings, seminars and workshops geared toward teaching the skills necessary to sustain relationships. From dating teens to engaged and married couples, we cater to your specific needs.

When you know better, you do better. That is why we at Family Matters of KC have dedicated ourselves to teaching marital skills. We have seen, first hand, the transformations that can take place when couples take a different, more informed approach. We know it is not easy, but we also know it is worth the effort.
